Story Play in Early Years Settings

Story Play® has developed over many years of storytelling experience in Nurseries, Pre-Schools, Children’s Centres and Forest Schools.

Story Play® offers colourful and engaging workshops using a wide range of creative activities and materials to encourage children to explore the world of Stories and Play. There are a number of workshop options. “Story Time” is a short session with poems, action rhymes and a selection of  stories, puppets and quirky  props. “Story Time” can be booked as a one-off or as a regular visit.

Story Play® programmes are longer and take place over three to six sessions and feature Story Time   and other creative arts activities including music, movement, drama & art and crafts.

These sessions involve an  observation and planning meeting with programmes tailored to the needs and interests of the children and also to the environment of each setting.

Story Play® is ideal for outdoor settings – in a garden or a Forest School.

“…Your resources and techniques for developing language and storymaking really enriched and complemented Craftplay’s provision for making and exploring…when we revisited the nursery this week the head teacher and the staff were very enthusiastic about the project. They felt the children had gained a great deal from their involvement. In particular two children who do not talk at all when in nursery had talked excitedly about what they were doing at the gallery and whilst interacting with Carol.”
